A beautiful 9 hole course situated in the heart of scenic Perthshire, along the main Stirling to St Andrews road and around 15 minutes’ drive from Perth.
Founded in 1899, Tillycoultry club and course enjoy a backdrop more reminiscent of the Swiss Alps than Central Scotland. Indeed, this was confirmed when, on 20th June 1879 while passing by train, Queen Victoria described Tillicoultry as “lying in a wooded green valley at the foot of the [Ochil] hills, reminding me of Italy and Switzerland”.The course itself is visually stunning, with magnificent views, some taxing golf and a fiercely proud reputation as a friendly welcoming club.
Kilrea Golf Club was founded in 1919, and is situated a half mile to the south west of the town. The original undulating inland course, is one of the driest to be found. Recent extensions to the course, whilst reclaimed from bogland, are also well drained, and the course is often open when others have succumbed to the Irish climate. Extended in recent years to 5672 yards long, it is longer than the typical 9–hole course. Despite the extra length, accuracy is still required off the tee to give a fighting chance of par at most holes. Generally, the course has tight fairways and small greens.
